What is Ozone Therapy? O3 Explained for Beginners

Updated: Apr 13, 2022

Ozone Therapy is natural healing protocol which uses O3 (ozone) to super- oxygenate the body. This super-oxygenation powerfully stimulates & triggers a variety of healing, restorative and regenerative processes. It strengthens the immune system, improves cellular energy production, improves cognition, memory & all foundational cellular processes necessary for health.

O3 is anti-inflammatory and anti-pathenogenic. It repairs & stimulates the body's innate capacity to heal and repair itself via stimulating our antioxidant enzyme system. The O3 molecule is unstable and quickly releases its extra O2 atom, triggering a chain reaction which, nourishes our cells at their most basic level of functioning.

In home-based ozone therapy, there are several ways we can safely use ozone at home to increase the amount of pure oxygen to our body. Home administration options are:

  • 1. Drinking ozonated water

  • 2. breathing ozone bubbled through oil (you cannot breathe it directly)

  • 3. Ozone steam sauna

  • 4. Ozone infrared sauna

  • 5. Ozone insufflations

Ozone insufflations are a process whereby O3 gas is administered to the body via the body's orifices, which are:
  • rectal

  • vaginal

  • nasal

  • ear

Note: nasal insufflations are not inhaled.

A more advanced way to administer ozone is intravenous (IV) ozone which requires professional instruction and is not generally for home use. For home ozone therapy the options listed above are available to explore.

In order to perform O3 therapy an ozone generator is needed. We recommend and refer Ozone generators manufactured in the USA by Promolife.

Promolife offers 3 Ozone Generator options below:

  • O3 Elite Single: delivers 1-70 micrograms (ug) of ozone per ml sufficient for insufflations)

  • O3 Elite Dual: delivers 1-110 micrograms of ozone per ml (needed for applications requiring more ozone such as the sauna

  • O3 Elite Mini: (most basic): delivers 7-65 micrograms of ozone per ml

Oxygen Source

To perform ozone therapy you will need a pure oxygen source with an oxygen concentration of at lease 90%. Ambient air is actually only 21% pure oxygen, the rest being nitrogen, so one needs to provide an oxygen source. There are are 3 options.

  1. an oxygen concentrator, which takes O2 from the room and concentrates it down to pure oxygen. With this option there is nothing to refill as you can always concentrate your own oxygen to make O3.

  2. Medical oxygen. This is the best option and is 99% purity. The catch is that if you live in the USA you will need a prescription, and for that, normally what the medical establishment considers an "underlying condition."

  3. Industrial oxygen is the third option. This is also 99% purity and is used by welders. It can be obtained from a welding supply.

For all O2 sources you will need a pediatric regulator.
